About Spencerport, NY

A suburb of Rochester, New York, the Village of Spencerport is a located on the Erie Canal. Bought as a farm in 1804 by Daniel Spencer, once the canal opened the farm was sold to become the first village lots. As a port on the canal, the area was called Spencer's Basin and later changed to Spencerport.
